   After reading We Are Date Algorithms and the making of our digital selves by Cheney-Lippold (2017), I found myself not as concerned as I probably should be. According to Cheney-Lippold (2017), even if we search up something simple on the internet, that data can be used in algorithms to categorize us without our participation, and in most cases, our knowledge (p. 5). The algorithms used can determine anything about us, such as assuming gender and age (p. 8). The reason why I am not so concerned to what I could be considered to someone else as date is because I tend to keep my personal life off of social media and when I do search up things on the web, it is only what I need to search up.     Although I may not be too concerned with what an algorithm may have labeled me as, it does create more of an awareness for me to watch what I search up or go on.     Media and social networking are two separate things that go hand to hand with one another. After reviewing the course material I can say I have a better grasp on how to define both. Media is any form of information that is accessible to the public, such as news and sports. On the other hand Social networking is a place where people can socialize or link with one another through a network also called social media. Though both are different, they go hand and hand with each other, which is why they call it social media.     Currently, the social media that I use are Instagram, youtube, TikTok, Snapchat, and Facebook. I mainly use instagram for entertainment and information purposes. Instagram sometimes has entertaining videos on it, but information spreads quick on instagram. Prompt 1      When it comes to my personal Dos and Don'ts of social media, for my don'ts, I like to think about what I post before sharing, I do not mix my personal life with business, I make sure not to use social media before I go to sleep, and to never have personal information on social media. When I first had social media, I was young and dumb. I had no thought of if I was giving people too much information when I went on rants on Facebook or when I would post cringe shirtless pictures of me, thinking I was the man, as people left me comments, such as,"Put a shirt on"!.   Welcome to my Blog Hello!        My name is Demarko. Some of my friends call me Marko, but I definately prefer Demarko.   Background     I am from Brandon, Florida, and currently reside there. My major is Health Sciences, with a concentration of Medical IT or Information Technology. I chose that concentration because if I can not find a job in the medical side of IT, I can always look for other IT jobs, since almost every business needs an IT.  I love to play basketball, I used to play a lot more when I was younger than no. I played for a travel team for three years and have been playing since i was seven years old. I have also played for my schools. The only thing stopping me from continue to play are ankle injuries. I have been lucky to travel to a couple of states on the east side only, as far up as Ohio to the great lakes.
