           I have always needed to create a Linked-in account for the sake of my future. Planning on entering the professional career doesn’t require you to have one, but I know that it will only make things easier as time goes by and my time here at USF comes to a glorious end when I graduate. This class has introduced me to a couple of social media platforms that I have never thought about touching and taught me things that the average person would not know when it comes to social media. That being said, my experience creating and briefly using Linked-in seemed very familiar due to my combined use of social media already and the social media that I have used for this class.                  I have found this week’s reading to be very informative in its explanation in social media broadcasting and other industries. Social media broadcasting is something that I have been heavily involved in without even knowing. From going on Instagram profiles to watch clips from my favorite shows to browsing YouTube, I have my fair share of viewing the social media broadcasting.   From the start of college I have decided that I wanted to do something in the medical field. The specific path that I have chosen was Public health with a concentration in Healthcare Information technology. Due to me pursuing a career related to the medical field, I have decided to read the articles that corresponded to Healthcare. Part 1:    This weeks reading has done a good job explaining how, if in the wrong hands, the internet and social media can be a powerful and dangerous resource. As explained in our textbook, "Social media communication" by Lipschultz, Jeremy Harris (2020), " Professor Gabrial Weinmann brought up a time where two Palestinians made videos. One with homemade explosives and the other explaining how to make a bomb" (p. 237).  Another instance that Lipschultz brought up in the reading was about how "Senator Joseph Lieberman Complained to google about the existence of YouTube videos posted by the terrorist groups, such as Al-Qaeda" (p.237).       My past experience using Flickr before this weeks assignment was none. I have never used Flickr and I did not know much, if anything, about the app/website. I have never had a want or need to make a Flickr account, yet alone even go on it just to see what it had in store. I have an Instagram and to my previous knowledge, I thought Flickr was very similar to Instagram. The fact that I was ignorant to what Flickr had to offer and the difference between Instagram and Flickr led to the site not grabbing my attention.       I found this weeks reading very informative in explaining how social media apps make a profit. At this point in the world, the basics of social media is nothing new to us. As Lipschultz (2020) stated, "balancing the need to keep up and health concerns from living online are real (p.184).  Social media is the center point for most of our lives, spending hours on a single app just to see whats trending. Over the years social media has only grown bigger, which "lead to people investing in new technology that is increasingly connected to social media" (p. 185).
